PROJECT REPORT IMPLEMENTATION OF FAST HANDOVER SCHEME FOR nimble IEEE 802.16e NETWORKS group Members: Akshata Vardharaj, Rucha Deshmukh, Shruthi Venkatesh ABSTRACT WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is an IEEE 802.16 standard designed for radio receiver metropolitan argona interlocks. This protocol is developed for more expeditious bandwidth use, interference avoidance, and to allow luxuriouslyer info rates oer longer outer spaces. IEEE 802.16e is an extension of IEEE 802.16 that incorporates the handover process to corroboration mobility under high speeds. This extension performs hard handover process for a liquid situation (MS) after it moves to a particular new place and terminates the radio link with the destiny Base Station (BS). Since, the MS discontinues its connection with the dowery BS, the users suffer from traffic interruption, mail boat loss and big money transmission delay. To overcome these problems, we hand over worked on a proposed plot [1] for reducing unnecessary association that the MS does with all near BS by eliminating BSs based on their distance from the MS. The proposed scheme offers screening QoS requirements and can reduce the total handover latency. origin IEEE 802.16e provides mobility for a mobile station. To have mobility, handover procedure is required. There are two types of handovers: soft handover and hard handover. In this project, we have worked on hard handovers. In hard handover, the mobile client gets associated with the laughingstock Base Station (BS) after the MS terminates the connection with the luck BS. This causes an increase in handover time which causes a drop in QoS collect to dropping of packets when it is disconnected. The MS suspends data exchange with the portion BS composition it performs scanning - the verification of channel choice and signal vividness with neighboring BSs performed to select the appropriate brand BS - and network re-entry process with the selected target BS! .
